🪨 Q1 Goals (✉️ Gregor Newsletter 72)

Hi everyone 👋,

Last year I made a monthly goals review, which I shared each month. This year I decided to make it quarterly instead (I wrote about it in my Newsletter 61 - I call them 🪨 Rocks).

Here are my goals for Q1 and how I did:

Work

1. ❌ 50/73 workdays

2. ✅ ⚜️ 100/100 Pieces of Content shared

3. ✅ ⚜️ 1000/1000 Followers on YouTube

4. ✅⚜️ 100/100 Members on Now German Skool

5. ❌ 💰 $~0.5/$2k income per month from teaching German

Health

6. ❌ 🏃‍♂️ 43/73 Workouts

7. ❌ ⚖️ 73kg

Love

8. ✅ 💚 3/3 visit London

I’m going to briefly say something about each of them.

  1. workdays: The goal hear is to work on at least 80% of days (292 per year = 73 per quarter). I’m generally doing well with the 6 day workweeks but frequent traveling made this goal impossible in the end. I already know that the same issue will mean that I wont get to 80% workdays in Q2 either, but in Q3 I should be able to make this.
  2. Since the beginning of this year I switched from AI to producing German language content. Turn’s out it is much easier to produce this kind of video and even get a bigger audience. Content produced here is 80 beginner lessons with Xi (+~300 pages of Lesson notes), ~20 Grammar videos and ~50 Shorts. I’m satisfied with that, altho there is a lot more to do.
  3. Turns out I can get more subscribers on YouTube for my German channel in 1 months than I got for AI in over a year. I already expected it, but I’m still pleased that I got over 2000 subscribers now.
  4. The next step in my conversion funnel is the private German community. It’s free but users need to sign up. My goal was to get 100 people there, now it’s around 180. Also a start I am happy with, especially since I didn’t even spend any money on advertising yet.
  5. Originally I intended to teach more German lessons in companies/schools along my online German teaching project to earn some money quicker. I ended up postponing that because I knew I’d be in China for a month in April, so I though it was just a bad idea to start new work before then.
  6. Well… my traveling broke my workout routine several times and it then sometimes took a bit of time to get back. I’ll try the same goal again for Q2 and I think I should make it because I can actually do workouts during traveling as well.
  7. Last year I went down to 70kg, then it steadily went up again to over 75kg because I got complacent. Despite the upcoming China trip I think I’ll be able to make this goal in Q2, and if not in Q3. After all I already did this last year so I know what has to be done.
  8. Visiting Xi in London was fantastic every time, so even though it broke my work routine it was totally worth it. Now that period is already over and the next Chapter in Switzerland can begin!

And here is what I am aiming for in Q2:

  • [ ] 💻 54 workdays
    • [ ] ⚜️ 100 Pieces of Content shared
    • [ ] ⚜️ 5000 Followers on YouTube
    • [ ] ⚜️ 500 Members on Now German Skool
  • [ ] 💰 $3k income per month from teaching German
  • [ ] 🏃‍♂️ 73 Workouts
  • [ ] ⚖️ 73kg

Alright and that’s it again for this week!

Have a great time everyone 😊

Greetings from Olten

Hi everyone This week I spent 5 days at the Planungswoche Lehrer organisieren ihren Schulstart (LoS) offered by the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz in Windisch. The program as a whole was really good and provided a lot of insights that will help a lot when I start teaching my class in just 4 weeks. In this newsletter I share some of the insights I gained during that week. I’ll cover my top three learnings as a teacher, as well as three potential issues I identified I need to stay aware about....

Hi everyone Last week I wrote about how I became a teacher. Since then, I also officially signed my contract and got my school laptop and keys. It’s just 5 weeks until I’ll stand in front of my class, so now it’s time to get ready. In this week’s newsletter I’m sharing some more thoughts about what I am doing and why. I’ll split this in 4 parts: Teaching goals, classroom management, class content, and everything else. Teaching Goals From my perspective, everything starts with the question of...

Hey everyone This may be a surprise, but starting in August I’m going to work an ~80% job as a middle school teacher at a nearby local school in Hägendorf. In this newsletter I’ll share how that happened, what’s going to happen next, and also what that means for my previous entrepreneurial projects and the rest of my life. Let’s get started. Becoming a Teacher After coming back from China on May 8, I took a break for a few days and then did some AI-related work for a previous client. However,...
